Rick joined the firm in January 2023 after 10 years with his own firm bringing class actions on behalf of injured consumers. Those efforts were often done in collaboration with the lawyers of Goldenberg Heller & Antognoli, P.C., including the $24 million dollar settlement against the St. Louis Rams that brought full compensation for Rams’ Personal Seat License holders (even apart from attorneys’ fees). Before that, he spent three decades with Thompson Coburn LLP, where he defended some of the largest and most complex lawsuits ever filed, including the longest jury trial ever held and the largest lawsuit in dollar terms ever tried.

Rick has been selected to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 (an invitation-only organization of the premier trial lawyers of each state or region), its Class Action Top 40 (as one of Missouri’s leading Class Action Plaintiffs’ lawyers, as well as its national president for two years), The Best Lawyers in America (Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions-Plaintiffs), Missouri Super Lawyers as a Top Rated Class Action & Mass Torts Attorney, and Who’s Who in America, as well as a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® Attorney, signifying the highest level of professional excellence according to his peers and the judiciary.

Rick graduated with a B.A. with distinction from the University of Michigan (where he served as a sports editor on the Michigan Daily) and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review and was selected to the Order of the Coif for graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. Following graduation, he clerked for the Honorable John F. Grady of the Northern District of Illinois.

Outside the practice of law, he is active in the Jewish community. He is past president of United Hebrew Congregation and a member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (“AIPAC”), for which he has served on the National Council for over a dozen years and co-chaired (with his wife Marcy) the St. Louis Council for 10 years.

Rick and his wife have been honored by the St. Louis Jewish Student Union, an organization sponsoring clubs for Jewish high school students throughout the area, with its Israel Engagement Award; by Congregation Nusach Hari B’nai Zion with its Israel Advocacy Award; by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis for co-chairing St. Louis’ first community-wide mission to Israel in 25 years; and by United Hebrew Congregation, by being inducted into the inaugural class of the “Chai Society,” recognizing members who have made important contributions to the congregation and wider community.

He lives in Creve Coeur with his wife Marcy, near his daughter Sari, son-in-law Danny, and their two daughters, and too far from his daughter Li and her partner Matt, both professors at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts.
